The brand that started in a lobby.
If you know what parallel play means, you probably didn't learn it from a textbook. You learned it the way we did, through experience.
We met in the waiting room of our children's therapy center. We just started talking the way parents do when we're exhausted and anxious and sitting under fluorescent lights in plastic chairs. Our conversations became our life rafts, a safe space to talk about the things that were running through our minds all day every day but too scared to say out loud. We could say it to each other because we were in such similar situations, navigating this new role we never imagined ourselves in, determined to do the best job possible, but also willing to admit that it's hard.
So here we are, 2 autism moms who know what it means to navigate a world that wasn't built for you (or your kid), so we made one ourselves. We hope it fits.
In it with you,
Carolyn & Amber
Former special education teacher. Now a full-time advocate for her son William, while supporting students with disabilities nationwide through her curriculum work.
The designer. She took what this brand felt like on the inside, soft, honest, warm, a little worn in, and made it visible. Autism mom in the trenches right alongside Carolyn.
The waiting rooms we know are bright and loud and full of strangers staring at the same floor. This isn't that. Honest letters from people living in it, loving someone through it, and leaning in.
What's on your mind? Each month we feature an organization moving the needle for our community, and put our reach behind theirs.
We're choosing carefully.
We're lining up the first organization we'll be lifting up here. One moving the needle for our community in a way we want everyone to see. Watch this space.
